NihaoMap Support

The first release is planned for 18 Chinese cities. The city selector shows online coverage, and Offline cities shows which cities can be downloaded. Place information varies in depth; check the available details and verify important information before you go.

Almost everything: select a city and browse places by category, search for a place by name or address, open available details, and use a Chinese arrival card. You can also sign in to save places or download a city without allowing location access. “Near me” searches need your position. The map simply stays on its default area, and you can grant access later in your device settings — NihaoMap asks only while you are using the app.

Open the place in the app. Places with a full guide have a Report an issue action; say what is wrong — closed, moved, wrong hours, wrong entrance — and the report is used to re-verify the place. If you do not see that action, or the problem is with the app itself, use Send feedback and mention the place name.

The interface is in English and written for visitors rather than translated from Chinese. Where Chinese is what you actually need in the street — the place name, the address, a short request — NihaoMap shows it in Chinese as well.

Open a place and choose Show in Chinese. You get the Chinese name and address, or a driver drop-off point where we have one, plus a short Chinese request you can show, a button to copy it, and the option to hand the route to your navigation app. It is built for the moment you need to be understood, not for reading long text.

Go online, sign in, and open Offline cities from Me or the city selector. Choose an available city and confirm the download. You can still use an installed city after signing out. After installation, maps within the downloaded coverage, included place search and details, nearby facilities and Chinese arrival cards work offline. Only photos included in the download are available offline. Saving a place alone does not download its details. Content updates, places outside installed coverage and external navigation may need a network; NihaoMap does not provide turn-by-turn navigation.

To delete your account and its saved data, go to Me → Settings → Delete account or use the web deletion page. Confirm with your usual sign-in method. Installed cities stay on the device. Open Settings → About in the app: it shows the version and build number. The same version number appears on the NihaoMap listing in the App Store or Google Play. Mentioning it helps a lot if you write to us about a problem.
